Are you a self-proclaimed code monkey? Would Photoshop be a necessity for you if trapped on a desert island? Do you dream about Ruby on Rails, PHP, or Fast-CGI sockets? If you have any interest in web development, server administration, or image design, consider joining student government's premiere web team. The Senate's web presence at http://studentsenate.rpi.edu is only the beginning. Feel free to send the Web Tech Group an email at senate-webmaster@union.rpi.edu
Shuttle tracking provides a simple way for people to see where the shuttles are online @ http://shuttles.rpi.edu, and is looking to expand into a much broader program.
Concerto aims to communicate events, announcements, and other information submitted by RPI organizations and individuals to the campus community through a variety of digital means, including web pages and large LCD screens.
myRPI is a student-powered portal that is at the center of student life on campus. With user-submitted graphics, quotes, facts about RPI, a robust problem-solving and feedback system, and many useful links and connections to other parts of the RPI community, myRPI is the definitive student homepage for the RPI Student Union.
The project was started by members of the Senate's Web Technologies Group, but the hope is that this project will grow largely independent of the Senate. We are actively seeking new people for the site team--coders, web designers, graphic artists, and content creators alike--and are gradually building the site out via the addition of new content.
Develop a new off-campus housing database.
Senate Server Maintenance/Upgrades
The Senate Web Tech Group's primary focus is the development and continued expansion of this web site, the home base of the Student Senate at RPI. We are interested in seeking new members who are interested in everything from designing stuff in Photoshop to coding dynamic, interface-driven content management systems.
This current web center runs on Ruby on Rails, an extraordinarily robust and accommodating web framework. The forums are built on phpBB, and they, along with our document management system (KnowledgeTree DMS), require us to use and understand PHP.
If you have any experience with Ruby on Rails, PHP, HTML, CSS, Photoshop, Flash, The GIMP, or anything else along those lines, the Web Tech Group wants you on board!
